Test Taking Skills We all need to work on our study skills. Here are some great tips to help in studying, work with time management, research strategies, help in studying for tests and working with projects. Take a look at these tips and website below. Our students must learn how to manage their time and prioritize their efforts if they are to succeed in school and beyond. Our teachers work hard to teach skills in the classroom, but parents also need to teach and reinforce at home. · When going over content or homework problems pay attention to key vocabulary (phraseology, properties or diagrams). Many of the teachers at McPherson point out important/key vocabulary. · Practice evaluating the best answer on a test with or without the requisite skills (e.g. What might tell me C is the answer even if I wasn't sure how to work this problem?). · Have a positive attitude. A positive attitude will help produce results on learning, homework and tests. · Make flashcards to improve memory retention-sometime just putting in the time is enough to get the grade you want. Once the note cards are created it is also important to spend quality time with the note cards. · Participate in Study Sessions on Edmodo (many of the teachers at McPherson are using Edmoto for this purpose). · At McPherson, we emphasize just starting - not staring - Make notes and pictures on scratch paper. · Studying is definitely a skill this year that needs practice!
