Second Harvest Food Drive - Orange County

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

--Martin Luther King, Jr.

Leadership students will collect all food and toiletry items in front of the school office and at the back gate each morning during the following days:  Monday, October 29th – Friday, November 9th.

When you donate to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, you take a powerful stand in the fight against hunger. Through a network of over 470 member charities Second Harvest alleviates food insecurity for more than 240,000 individuals in Orange County each month. Our member agencies are non-profit organizations such as shelters, churches, homes for battered and abused women and children and local pantries. As a vital link between the food industry and agencies that feed those at-risk of hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank has distributed more than 272 million pounds of food to the hungry in Orange County.

FACT: One in four people in a soup kitchen line is a child.

How Can I Participate?

During November, the Leadership students will collect canned and packaged food for Second Harvest to provide food to those in need. They will also be collecting toiletry items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, tissue paper, deodorant, etc.) for the homeless shelters. If you are able to donate a few items, please bring them to McPherson in the morning and the Leadership students will be there to collect your items. All donated items will be collected in the mornings and all items will be placed in the Second Harvest Food Boxes located in front of the school office.  We appreciate your donation and support!!!  Check out these websites for ideas of what is needed!!!  http://www.shfb.org/childfriendly  http://www.shfb.org/mostneededfoods

Dear McPherson Parents:

It is time for our annual LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) Survey.  Our survey is essential in informing our actions outlined in our LCAP.  Last year, the district was able to gather 10,698 responses and this year we want to exceed this number.  The LCAP Survey is very important for our school. We had the school painted and building 100 re-floored/painted based on survey results.  The survey results have also resulted in a counselor two days per weekat McPherson.  Please call out the great things that are going on at McPherson and the areas that you would like to see improved.  Our goal is to get as close to 100% participation as possible. Please have both parents complete the survey.  Below you will find a link to our website to take the survey. You can also find directions to find the survey attached: How to access LCAP survey 2018.doc http://lcap.ousd-2018-19-parent-community-survey.sgizmo.com/s3/
